Warmup: Think about a “battle” in which you were victorious. What did you have to overcome, and what effect did the victory have on you? On your life?

In his sermon, Nick outlined three ways David’s victory as a warrior impacted his life: comfort, confidence, and comparison. Read 1 Samuel 18:1-16.

1. In this passage, how do you see comfort impacting David?

3. In this passage, how does comparison impact David?

4. Which of these three—comfort, confidence, comparison—do you think is most problematic for David? Why?

5. Which of these three is the biggest struggle or pitfall for you? Discuss.
