Winning the War In Your Mind: Reframe
This series — built on Craig Groeschel’s book of the same title — will give practical tools for using scriptural truth to combat the negative thought patterns in your mind.
1.This week, we discussed the importance of perspective. Talk about a time your perspective on a certain situation either positively or negatively influenced your experience.
2. In the podcast, Nathan said that, especially within close relationships, we often have full arguments with another person before a word is even spoken. This is based on personal assumptions we make about the other person. How often does this happen to you? Discuss.
3. Nathan talks about the importance of pausing to reflect on our thoughts with curiosity as a way to avoid automatically reacting to them. Can you share a time when you did this (or wish you had done this)? Why do you think this is so tough?
4. Are you able to view your weaknesses through the lens of grace and acceptance? What does it mean for you to see yourself through God’s eyes?
5. How does trying to see ourselves and each other through God’s eyes give us a fresh perspective?
Read Romans 12:1-8.
6. Verse 2 tells us: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” How does this encouragement from Paul connect to the ideas discussed this week?
7. Take a closer look at verses 3-8 in this passage. We are not operating alone. How does remembering that we are all members of the body of Christ help reframe the way we think about ourselves and each other?
