Winning the War In Your Mind: Rewire

This series — built on Craig Groeschel’s book of the same title — will give practical tools for using scriptural truth to combat the negative thought patterns in your mind.

1.We are over halfway through our study of Winning the War in Your Mind, so it’s a good time to pause and reflect. In your group, talk about some realizations or breakthroughs you have experienced in this study. Then, discuss ways you have been challenged.

2. Name some of the stories you tell yourself, about yourself. Are these stories true or false? How have these stories impacted your life?

3. In the podcast, Nathan discussed the importance of examining our thoughts and those stories we tell ourselves through the lens of compassion and love, which is the lens through which God sees us. Take a moment to try this now. If you feel comfortable, share what you see when you look at yourself compassionately.

4. In his sermon, Pete said that Deuteronomy captures God’s words to the Hebrew people in the wilderness. The Hebrew word for wilderness shares the same root word as “speak”. The wilderness, then, is a place where God speaks to us. What has God communicated to you through your experiences in the “wilderness”?

5. In the podcast, the sermon, and Groeschel’s book, we discussed the idea that we form mental and behavioral ruts through repetition. Talk about some of the ruts you have found yourself in.

6. Read Deuteronomy 11:18-21. How does this passage demonstrate the practice of “digging trenches of truth” by meditating on scripture? Talk about how this practice has helped you. How does this challenge you?

7. To close, discuss some ways you can help each other dig trenches of truth in your life.
